PINK PURSE UPGRADE: DEFURIA BEVERLY HILLS TOPANGA BAG

Hi! So recently I sold my faithful pink Prada crossbody purse. It was cute and really bright, and we had a lot of great times together, but I knew it wasn’t The One and it was time to let it go. The strap was too short and its main material was nylon. Certainly I could do better. Once I shipped it off to its new baglover, I felt good about making room in my closet, but at the same time I felt so empty being pink-bagless and all. I told myself I’ll be better off (because that’s what strong women do).

The ex-bag.

A few days later, while lunching and catching up with my friend the talented handbag maker, Courtney DeFuria, she surprised me by gifting me with the stunning pink lizard bag that I fell in love with on the DeFuria Beverly Hills IG feed. The upgrade.

The Topanga Bag is a petite eye catcher (even the lady at the next table was admiring). Courtney uses only responsibly sourced materials that are of the highest quality, so this shiny glazed lizard skin is definitely an upgrade from nylon. I particularly love the ring detail on front; it’s removable, but why would you?

Love the built-in card slots and the gorgeous calfskin lining. Fits my iPhone, lipstick, and keys.

I wore the bag to dinner the other night with an all-black outfit and pointy heels. It is the perfect party or after-dark purse. But I knew that I will be wanting to carry this purse on everyday casual outings, so I paired it here with salvaged jeans and a jersey gray tee.

It all works because a finely crafted handbag and some fabulous shoes are all you need to make a casual outfit pop even when your blue jeans are four years old and your t-shirt costs less than twenty bucks.

I cut an exaggerated step hem on these old jeans to give them new life.

The cutout collar on this top is super cute, but I especially love the knot-front. It’s good for people like me who have never mastered the front-tuck look.
